Merger proposal

[edit]

I propose that Geopolitical zones in Nigeria be merged with Subdivisions of Nigeria. I think that the content in the former article overlaps with the content of the latter, and that the latter article is of a reasonable size that the merging of said article will not cause any problems as far as article size or undue weight is concerned. I am totally against it. Infact I believe the title Subdivisions of Nigeria should not even exist on Wikipedia and even if it does it should be made to contain all the various divisions in Nigeia (i.e States, LGAs and Geo. zones).
  • There is "nothing" like Subdivisions of Nigeria: Only if it is a wiki policy that all countries should have a subdivisions subpage then there is no reason for the page. What we have in Nigeria is NIGERIA < NORTH AND SOUTH < GEOPOLITICAL ZONES < STATES < LOCAL GOVERNMENTS and there are many reliable sources for each of these breakdown to remain.
  • All Nigerian states make use of the zones on Wikipedia and in Nigeria: When you visit any article of Nigerian state you will see that their geopolitical zones are always mentioned.
  • Subdivisions is an "ambiguous" term: How do you possibly define a division and by what standard since there are no wiki guidelines that explicitly explain this and you can't find any reliable source talking about subdivisions in Nigeria more than Geo-political zones. Local Governments and States can also be regarded as a division so even if the page continues to exist then it should contain all the constitutional divisions in Nigeria.MyUsernameHasAlreadyBeenUsed (talk) 22:27, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
